Deirdre Palmer – The Girl In The Tunnel

‘The Girl in the Tunnel’ by Deidre Palmer is a psychological suspense story from an author I didn’t know before this publication day tour. The synopsis really had me curious to discover what was inside the pages, so I sat down and started on the Book.

Deidre Campbell

London. A January night. Commuters surge into the Underground. Ellen Randall recognises a man standing close to the platform edge: Matt Leyton, her sister Rosanna’s married lover. The man who’s playing a game as old as time. A red-hot flash of uncontrollable anger propels Ellen to his side. The train approaches. Seconds later, Matt has gone.

Carl Teviot is convinced Ellen isn’t a killer, even though he’s only just met her – or rather, found her, huddled in a sleeping bag in an abandoned Tube station: a ghost station. He can’t leave her there, alone, and in danger.

But rescuing her from the tunnel is only the beginning…

A very skillfully written book. This is a story that builds very slowly all the while using the power of suggestion as well as everything else. The characters are well written, making for very real feeling people. Ellen, for one I understood her totally and Carl I liked too.

The plot was an intriguing one that did hook me in pretty quickly. Even with the story being a slow burn there was still enough to hold my attention as there is enough going on. There are some surprises as well as the story unfolds which kept me turning the pages in anticipation of what would happen next.

I found this a really different storyline and a fantastic read which kept me guessing. An excellent psychological suspense novel that I recommend.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Deidre Palmer for my copy of the book.
