The Rabbit Factor by Antti Tuomainen and translated by David Hackston is a book that I enjoyed so much. The author is a Finnish award-winning crime fiction writer, who I have never heard of previous to this tour. Be assured I will be learning more of his works after this.

Henri is a mathematician for an insurance company, he calculates the premiums and that’s what he loves…numbers. Until the day he has to quit his job because he has inherited an amusement adventure park from his brother after his death, with his last wish to make it profitable as well.
Now, here comes the problem…what does a man, who depends on the solidity of numbers, logic and the predictability of them all do with a crazy amusement Park and the unpredictability of said park? That’s an excellent question and one this funny, quirky and, oh so, entertaining novel will answer.
Poor Henri, that’s all I can say! A man who loves an orderly life where things are written in stone and his numbers are always logical, dealing with an adventure amusement Park?! The things he has to deal with are so far out of his comfort zone that I did wonder how he would cope!

I was hooked from the prologue. I just felt like I was unable to put this book down. Antti Tuomainen has made Henri an easy character to know, with his logical approach to life and he knows nothing but straight talking. The descriptions of the park took me right there, by Henri’s side. Everything about this story was created so skillfully I believed absolutely everything I read, even if it seemed like madness.

I loved the character development that was very apparent with Henri. We see him dealing with situations he found so difficult after the death of his brother and was cheering him on all the way. His newfound relationship with Laura, as the story unfolds made me feel so happy for him, I found it so sweet and uplifting.
A novel that I just enjoyed losing myself in. For me it didn’t matter what the lines of credibility was, it just flowed and I loved it all. I must say the translation of The Rabbit Factor is excellent as well, this really showed in the way the story flowed.

Another new author from the house of Orenda Books that I appreciate and will be watching for more of his work.
Massive thank you to Anne Cater and Orenda Books for allowing me to be a part of the #OrendaTours and the gift of the book.
