Kimberley Chambers – The Family Man

Kimberley Chambers is back with her new release ‘The Family Man’. I am one of the lucky ones to be on this fabulous books Blog Tour! This author is very definitely one of my favourite authors. As soon as I open one of her books there is never any putting the book down… unless I have to!

Kimberley Chambers

A brand new book and a brand new family to meet. Kenny Bond, he may be a murderer and a gangster but he is first and foremost a family man. Just released from prison for killing a copper, he wants to stay out of trouble and never wants to be away from his family again. His son Donny doesn’t have the edge his father has but his twin sons Beau and Brett more than makeup for it! They aren’t prepared to let anyone get in the way, just like their grandfather.

There is a feud simmering that could cause murder and a new family on Dark Lane could bring the Bonds down. Kenny puts his family first but can the Bonds stick together when it matters? A family you don’t want to fall foul of.

Well, this is a big book around 500 pages but believe me, I flew through it. Kimberley Chambers has again brought a family that I can’t get enough off. Her writing is sharp detailed and characterisations… just brilliant. I could sense the determination of Kenny and the twins, particularly that nothing would touch them. They were prepared for anything. The twins very much so, Brett is the only one who falters but he has Beau to spur him on.

This book brings more sensitive issues in the storyline and I knew what was coming I just wasn’t sure how and when but when it did, I could really understand the reactions of the Bonds. Maybe a normal family couldn’t have the options Kenny had but hey, why not! As you read the book and if you look back at my review it may seem that I am as harsh as Kenny…but when your family has suffered in this way and Kenny’s way was a possibility, believe me, you would too.

I can imagine how evil the twins are going to be as the series goes on. I can already see it. Kenny is already a nasty piece of work when it comes to the family and his own self-preservation. The twins are going to be so bad…think of the Krays and probably double it. Brett is the more humane but I see him have trouble in certain ways as the series unfolds but I liked Brett more. I think that’s just because he does show he has a tiny bit of conscience and Beau is like a machine. He shows no emotion…unless he has to for his own needs.

A story that is as gritty if not grittier than her previous books. She never, ever shies away from showing the brutality of the ganglands she writes about. Kimberley Chambers writes what she knows and does it so expertly that you know in your own mind this type of thing could be happening in a city near you. I loved this new family and didn’t want to get to the last chapter. I wanted to stay in the Bonds world with them all, but all good things come to an end and this ending just left me wanting the next book like, NOW!

Kimberley Chambers has done it again, another, addictive, gripping, exciting and unpredictable family for us to love yet hate at the same time. I for one loved it and am really missing the Bonds already!

A massive thank you to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours, Kimberley Chamber for writing this book and Harper Collins for my gorgeous copy of this book.
