Gemma Rogers – The Babysitter

‘The BabySitter’ by Gemma Rogers is a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. I, for one, am a big Gemma Rogers fan and was excited to see her new release in my tour invites. This one does not disappoint in any way let me tell you.

Gemma Rogers

Ali Tolfrey asks her best friend, Brooke to look after Eden, her one-year-old daughter. She could never have foreseen the fact that Brooke would be attacked that brutally that she lost consciousness. Neither would she ever imagine that Eden would be abducted as she was unconscious. She never expected a nightmare in which her daughter was gone and Brooke knows who took her…

Does Ali really know Brooke? She may trust her with Eden’s life but is she the woman Ali thinks she is? Brooke knows her kidnapper and still won’t tell either Ali or the police. Her deftly spun web of lies which is now her life depends on nobody discovering them. Brooke is determined to find Eden before she has to tell the truth for once in her life but will she?

‘The Babysitter’ is a book that doesn’t stop, not even for a second. I found my heart in my mouth while reading this. Intense is not the word. I always love a Gemma Rogers book but this one had me checking if I had taken my blood pressure meds that day! Talk about twisty and a high stakes story. We see Brooke not telling anyone who has taken Eden to protect herself. This made me feel like she was not a woman I would like but as the story unfolded and we learn more I was chopping and changing how I felt about them all.

The story is told by three characters in alternating chapters so we can see their points of view throughout. I enjoy this as it gives us a wider view of everything.

A gritty, fast-paced story with an emotive plot that gripped me from the start. The intrigue, suspense and interesting, complex characters make you want to know more as you are thrown straight in from the beginning. A great addition to Gemma Rogers other books

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the copy of the book.
