Ellie Barker – The Juggle

‘The Juggle’ by Ellie Barker is the second book in the Cherry Blossom Park series but as I found out is fine to read as a Standalone. I found it a really enjoyable read and it has me now wanting to read more from Ellie Barker.

Ellie Barker

We follow the story of married couple Molly and her husband Dan, we see both points of view told by alternating chapters. They both work at ‘The Daily Blossom’ in the world of news. Molly is a part-time producer working one day a week and spends the rest of her time being the stay at home mum. Dan is the local celebrity being the news reporter and the one in front of the camera. When Dan slips up he realises it could be career-ending until their boss offers him a reprieve he has to swap places with Molly. How will this affect them and their marriage?

This change is rather a large one for these two. They are both happy in their own roles and we see them feeling out of place until they begin to settle into it. It gives them a bird’s eye view of exactly what the other really does. Molly really takes to the role of reporter after her initial discomfort. Her skills in front of the camera make her a natural. Dan on the other hand struggles in more than one way, he finds the twins hard work and misses being the star which means he starts to feel jealousy for Molly’s role.

This makes for such an interesting and entertaining read. Two people thrown into chaos both having to start from scratch! Then their own inner dialogue makes for even more self-doubting and guilt too.

I found this book sped by it was such an easy read. I do enjoy Ellie Barker’s writing style and as the book ended in a cliffhanger I am hoping for the next book soon so I can discover what Molly and Dan’s next chapter will be like.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Elle Barker for my lovely copy of this book.
