‘Starstruck’ by Beth Miller is a book you don’t know yet but believe me when I say you want to read it. This is such a laugh out loud book! A perfect book to take you to another place, it did me.

Sally Marshall performs as a tribute act to a pop star called Epiphanie. An ordinary woman who has always wondered what it would be like to actually be a real pop star with the private jets, performing to packed out concerts. Then the day comes that the ACTUAL Epiphanie offers to swap places with her and even offers her money as well, Sally sees a chance to live her perfect life so takes her up on it. Will Sally be able to cope with the pressure of stardom and how will Epiphanie deal with hardly any work and performing in dumps with drunken people?

A story about two women who aren’t perfect and we see how their life swops help them learn valuable lessons about themselves. Beth Miller’s characters are natural. Their flaws humanise them so they are really believable. I loved Sally particularly, the ordinary woman with her husband Paul, who we see has his moments that aren’t the best but he loves his wife and their relationship is a lovely one. She is so warm-hearted and is the real star of the show. Several characters are memorable, Epiphanie’s assistant’s assistant, Indigo is one.

This is a perfectly paced, oh so funny book that also gives us moments that make us think about a perfect life actually is. I found it a very entertaining read which I sped through in no time. Beth Miller is a skilled author who has a fantastically great imagination and has written a thought-provoking and uplifting book that I loved.
