Two Truths by Dana C. Carver is a slow burner of a thriller. An author I have not come across before so I had no expectations as I settled down to read.

After the mysterious death of her husband, Renee Morgan is determined to protect her three daughters, forcing her to face a history she has spent a lifetime avoiding. Then there is Brett the eldest, who is very aware she is destined for something great as she was groomed by her dad to join the most elite of secret societies. But her ambition demands a high price. Sara is ready to avenge her father at any cost. When she finds herself swept up in conspiracies and family secrets, her search for answers uncovers a primaeval power. Finally, we have Hadley the youngest, who watched her father die and now he won’t leave her alone. Guided by his ghost, she begins to experience memories of past lives.
As the journeys of Brett, Sara and Hadley converge, two Truths are revealed that change everything they knew about themselves and the world they live in.
A captivating novel that is written in a way that makes you take in every word, so the story unravels and it’s almost as though you can savour it. Each chapter alternates between each character, so we get each point of view and we follow each journey as they unfold.
The multi-layered story has plenty going on, the secret societies with their secretive ways, people with the power to read minds, turn into different creatures (frogs) and even make body parts glow up. We also see family and how it works, the favouritism, acceptance and how familial decisions can ripple down the years.

The three girls are truly unique to each other and have their parts to play in the plot. As much as this book sounds like it is a busy plot believe me it is captivating and believable. A beautifully written story that takes you away from your daily life for the length of time you are reading. Not my usual type of read but I am rather glad I was invited to join the tour, I didn’t miss out on a gem of a book!
Thanks to ZooLoo’s Book Tours and Dana C Carver for the gifted book.
