Mara Timon – Resistance

‘Resistance’ by Mara Timon is a world war 2 espionage thriller. This is the follow on to ‘City of Spies’ but as found it is easily read on its own.

Mara Timon

May 1944. When spy Elisabeth de Mornay, code name Cécile, notices a coded transmission from an agent in the field that does not bear his usual signature, she suspects his cover has been blown – something that is happening with increasing frequency.

With the situation in Occupied France worsening and growing fears that the Resistance has been compromised, Cécile is ordered behind enemy lines. She meets with her fellow agents Léonie and Dominique to begin their assignment, gather intelligence from the Resistance, the locals and mainly the Germans to aid the Allied invasion. Cécile has to also discover just how compromised the Resistance actually is and comes to the realisation not all the enemies are German.

A novel based on fact and expertly blended with fiction to bring a powerful and engrossing espionage thriller that doesn’t just draw you in, it grabs you…literally by the throat! I am a history geek and this particular book with its twists, turns and details that are never exaggerated so it seems unbelievable, took me to France with Cécile and her fellow agents and held me there until the last word of the book.

I have already added the first book to my tbr pile so I can indulge in a bit more of Cécile.

Thanks to Tracy Fenton of Compulsive Readers and Zaffre Books for the gifted copy of the book.
