Ella Matthews – The Knight’s Maiden In Disguise

‘The Knight’s Maiden In Disguise’ by Ella Matthews is the first book in The King’s Knights published by Mills & Boon Historical. I have read Mills & Boon in the past and as I picked this up to read did wonder whether or not I would enjoy this. Well, first off I love Historical fiction and who doesn’t enjoy a bit of romance?

Ella Matthews

This is the story of Avva and William, theirs is not a run of the mill meeting. Avva disguises herself as her late twin brother which is the only way to keep herself and her family, safe. Until Sir William Devereux arrives in her town. As the castle’s stable master, Avva can’t avoid the knight—or the desire he instantly stirs in her. He’s everything she never knew a nobleman could be: honest, kind, brave. When danger surrounds them, the only way to help William is to reveal her true identity, but can she trust him enough?

A historical romance that ticks the right boxes. We have a sexy knight which is always welcome and in Avva a woman who is willing to do anything to protect her family. She is a strong and loyal woman who stays where she may be in danger so her brothers can finish their apprenticeships. Only then can they settle In different places and will be able to support themselves. This woman clearly has experienced so much but still looks after her family. William is not only sexy but I warmed to him immediately and that makes this story so much more enjoyable.

The story is an action-packed one that drew me in straight away. I have to say I read this in a day, I was so intrigued about what was next for these two characters. I am surprisingly looking forward to Ella Matthews next book as well!

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Mills & Boon for the copy of the book.
