‘August’s Eyes’ by Glenn Rolfe is the first book I have read by this author. An atmospheric and creepy read that’s a horror/supernatural story. It definitely could give you goosebumps and not want to read it in the night. The cover is enough to really creep you out…then you start reading it too!
When dreams start bleeding into reality, a social worker is forced to face the mistakes of his past.

A serial killer has found a way to make his land of graveyards a sinister playground to be bent at his sadistic will.
The secrets behind August’s eyes will bring two worlds together, and end in a cataclysm of pain and ruin.
We meet John who is having nightmares he doesn’t understand and as he experiences them affecting his waking world he takes it upon himself to research his past and see what connection he has to the cemetery.
This is a story that brings very disturbing themes and it makes all the difference in the impact of the story. The author has dealt with these themes well and although they make for a disturbing story they haven’t been used without reason.
The characters, well, they range from relatable right up to really creepy, depending upon which character it is. The author has drawn them all well and they all have their own unique voice in the book.

Another fabulous book published by one of my top ten publishers, Flame Tree Press. If you ever want scaring or just creeping out, have a look at their catalogue of books. This is a worthy addition!

Thanks to Random Things Tours and Flame tree Press for my gifted copy of the book.
