Mac Altgelt – In The Beast’s Cage

‘In The Beast’s Cage’ by Mac Altgelt has such a cover that I felt like I needed to read it. The synopsis drew me in even more, it sounded such an intriguing read just from that.

Mac Altgelt

Harbouring a dark secret from his past, immortal Lord Blake from medieval England arrives mysteriously in a sleepy coastal town in Georgia, USA. There he meets Hugo Wegener, an ex-doctor who is burdened with his own dark secret, and life-long resident Ginny Harrison, who is involved in her ageing father’s absurd dream of refurbishing and reopening the town’s long-defunct zoo. As Blake’s relationship with Ginny blooms, he finds himself involved in the insane zoo project and, when Bruce Kelly, an exotic game smuggler from South Africa, arrives in town on the eve of the grand reopening with a plan to rid the zoo of its valuable animal species, it is up to Blake, Hugo, and the old man to stop him, without revealing the terrible secrets of their pasts.

A story in which we follow the immortal Lord Blake who wants to open a zoo, not necessarily a zoo that you would expect, but a zoo all the same. This is a crazy adventure but one that you just cannot stop reading.
The characters Mac Altgelt brings to the story are created perfectly for this book and they made it such an easily readable story. Ginny and Blake had a chemistry that leapt of the pages, I loved it.

A perfect blend of paranormal, fantasy, mystery and romance as well. A packed story that has twists and secrets to be revealed which makes for a book you can’t put down for too long. An example of a well-written book right here. If you enjoy a story that is a cross-genre one with plenty going on throughout, I recommend you give this one a go. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Mac Altgelt for the copy of the book to give you my thoughts today.
