T.J. Newman – Falling

‘Falling’ by T.J. Newman is one of them books that if you have high blood pressure or a weak heart, be really careful reading this! A psychological thriller that does have you on the edge of your seat straight away.

T.J. Newman

A book that begins as it means to go on. Right from the first page we are plunged into the feelings you will get used to experiencing thoughout this book. I think the synopsis tells you why you just NEED to read this book so I am including it in my review here;

You just boarded a flight to New York.
There are one hundred and forty-three other passengers onboard.
What you don’t know is that thirty minutes before the flight your pilot’s family was kidnapped.

For his family to live, everyone on your plane must die. The only way the family will survive is if the pilot follows his orders and crashes the plane.

Enjoy the flight.

A story that never stops pulling the punches, told from multiple perspectives of Jo and the team in the cabin, Bill who is in the cockpit and Bill’s wife Carrie, who is at home with their children and the people who are holding them hostage. We also have Jo’s nephew in the FBI and ATC on the ground we learn so much about the situation and all the characters in play as we see the whole picture first. Then we have an unknown person on the plane who could be anyone who is part of the hostage situation. This brings an extra frisson of fear and tension to the story as we see trust being a massive issue too.

The author has clearly worked within the industry. She has all the procedures and talks the talk required in the job. These details create a realistic and authentic story, along with the high pressure situation and the non-stop action makes for a edge of the seat read that is going to make people a lot more tense as they board a plane this Summer!
