‘Elladur: The Awakening’ by Angie Delazi is the first book in the Elladur Trilogy. It is a fantasy series that begins fabulously.
We meet Liya, a master spy for the King who is sent on a quest to uncover information on an imminent political marriage that is happening in an enemy kingdom. She soon discovers her former lover Haydn is to be the King of Dar’Angar… which leads to their lives becoming intertwined once again. A darkness is on its way and Liya will find herself having a major role to play as the events play out.
A book that has such intricate world-building, so rich in details and that I was watching it play out in my mind. Liya is a strong and fearless and feisty woman who is a great main character. A character I enjoyed getting to know on the journey. Angie Delazi certainly weaves a magical tale that keeps you reading. A fast-paced story that transports you to a make-believe realm that convinces you, as the reader that it could be real. The depth of the story along with believable characters that have you cheering them on from the start makes for a really immersive read, from beginning to end.
A debut fantasy from an author that is worth watching. I will be looking forward to seeing what Angie Delazi does next.
