‘Death on The Lake’ by Jo Allen is the fifth book in the DCI Satterthwaite mystery series. I have read one book previously in this series and really enjoyed it. I liked the writing style and characters so I joined this tour too. The books are set in the Lake District.

Three youngsters, out for a good time. Vodka and the wrong sort of Coke. What could possibly go wrong?
When a young woman, Summer Raine, is found drowned, apparently accidentally, after an afternoon spent drinking on a boat on Ullswater, DCI Jude Satterthwaite is deeply concerned — more so when his boss refuses to let him investigate the matter any further to avoid compromising a fraud case.
As the accidental death is followed up by another and then a violent murder too. Jude Satterthwaite life begins to get even more complicated as they start to become personal. This is because they involve his former partner Becca Reid, who has family connections in the area. He is so determined to find the killer that it brings him into direct conflict with his boss — and ultimately places both him and his colleague and girlfriend, Ashleigh O’Halloran, in danger…
Another fabulous chapter in Jo Allen’s DCI Jude Satterthwaite’s life and career. We see Jude so focused that he could pay for his actions and end up wrecking his life permanently. This is another book you can read without having read the others. They do stand up well on their own.

Jo Allen’s writing style draws you into the story and keeps you there. I love the Lake District and Jo Allen describes it spot on. I could see it in my mind as I sped through the book. As I discovered in the previous book I read the revelations kept coming and the twists were really well placed to keep anyone reading and turning the pages to see exactly what would happen with Jude.

A book that I can highly recommend if you enjoy a brilliantly written police procedural.
Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Jo Allen for the copy of the book.
