Vanessa Carnevale – Her Tuscan Summer

‘Her Tuscan Summer’ by Vanessa Carnevale is an emotional and beautifully written book. I have read Vanessa’s work previously so I knew this should be a great read.

Vanessa Carnevale

Mia Moretti has dreamed of becoming an artist. After experiencing a fierce battle with a devastating illness, now she’s terrified it’ll return. She is devastated that she is finding herself unable to paint as well as previously which means giving up a place she got at art school.

Then, she has the opportunity, to spend the summer in Italy. Mia decides to go and holds the hope that Italy and the gorgeous places there will help her heal. Coming to Italy was to find herself again, what she didn’t expect, was to meet a handsome mechanic, Luca, and soon she’s falling for him, and with life once again. But just when she has begun to heal, there’s a tragedy. Will Mia and Luca pull through together or are they lost forever?

Such a beautiful story. Not just the plot and characters but the rich descriptions of Italy, I was as sun-drenched as Mia in my mind anyway. I felt Mia’s pain for her as she begins to heal herself, finds love and then again she is brought back down to earth with a horrible bang. An emotional story that you find yourself invested in. Wanting everything to turn out good for these two fabulous characters. I was so immersed in ‘Her Tuscan Summer’ that I read it in two sittings.

Another story from Vanessa Carnevale that has vibrant and fully rounded characters. The sense of place is perfect, as I have already said I felt sundrenched like Mia. I don’t need to visit Tuscany as I feel like I have already been!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy of the books to bring you my thoughts.
