Andy Maslen – Crooked Shadow

‘Crooked Shadow’ by Andy Maslen is the twelfth Gabriel Wolfe thriller in the series. An action-packed military thriller that has a synopsis that just draws you into needing to find out more.

Andy Maslen

Gabriel Wolfe is an Ex-SAS hero who wants vengeance for his parents’ deaths. This time is alone in his mission, on administrative suspension due to a car crash that almost killed a man. He has no backup from his boss, and no support if things go wrong. He only has his wits and resolve to see justice done.

This is a mission to track down the bent cop who caused the deaths of Gabriel’s parents and brother. There is also the small detail of the sister he was separated from for close to 40 years. Gabriel and his sister join forces and they search for Ponting, the corrupt cop who arranged the kidnapping of his sister. Ponting isn’t as easy as they thought and as they find him they discover he is so much worse than they first thought. This becomes a bigger and more action-packed journey that has them travelling further than they first thought. Can they catch this man who has caused the Wolfe family so much pain?

The story is told from Gabriel’s point of view and we get to know him quite well, as we are privy to what is going on in his head as well as his dreams.

I knew this would not be a straightforward mission and I spent an awful lot of time saying ‘just one more page ” just because I could not leave Gabriel’s journey. His sister Tara (or Mei) is a pretty strong woman to her strong brother. I thought she was pretty gutsy and fierce while being so strong too. She is not one to walk away from a fight and we see her in some pretty hairy situations.

An adrenaline-inducing, tense and so full of action book that brings a brother and sister who are reunited to stand as one against all the odds so they can see justice done. If you are a fan of engrossing action books have a look at this, I am certain it won’t disappoint!

Thanks to Random Things Tours and Tyton Press for the copy of the book to bring you my thoughts.
