‘Body on The Rocks’ by Rachel Green is a new series featuring Madame Margot Renard. A new mystery series that is slightly less than fifty shades darker than a cosy mystery.

We meet Madame Margot Renard who has decided to move away from Paris and to the South of France after being widowed. She finds she is not handling everything very well. In an attempt to give herself a routine and something solid to start from she swims in the sea every morning but still flounders over the day. Her sense of purpose returns as she discovers the body of a young boy washed up on the beach. Margot has no idea that she will be swept into a dangerous world of drug smugglers and people trafficking and forced to cross paths with two feuding gangsters. All from attempting to solve the mystery of the young boys death.
A new series – a new character, Margot is great. I connected with her immediately, her back story gets to you immediately and I was cheering her on from the start. Rachel Green’s characters are all very well rounded and fleshed out with Margot being the best.
With an intense plot that involved people trafficking and drug smuggling, I was immersed from early on. A really well-paced story that really kept me turning the pages and wondering what would happen next. Not just an intriguing mystery we have the beautiful descriptions of the South of France as well. This is somewhere I have never been and do wish to visit one day. This book had me in the South of France in my mind’s eye anyway, always better than nothing.

Madame Margot Renard is a woman who I am looking forward to meeting again. With her talent of converting her pain into finding justice, she makes a worthy detective.
Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources and Rachel Green for my copy of the book to bring my own thoughts to you today.
