Jeanine Englert – The Highlander’s Secret Son

‘The Highlander’s Secret Son’ by Jeanine Englert is a harlequin Historical Romance story. I thought that a bit of history and a splash of romance may be what I could do with at the moment, so joined the tour and here I am, giving you my thoughts on it.

Jeanine Englert

Brandon Campbell is the new Laird and he sees a thief on his estate but can’t believe his eyes when he sees Fiona MacDonald fleeing the scene. Fiona was his lover and it isn’t just seeing her that stuns him – it’s the fact that she has a baby with her too. As the story unfolds, he finds out the baby is his. The biggest fly in the ointment is the fact that they are from warring clans. Will this make their love impossible?

A classic story of lovers who are enemies but with the added complication of a baby right from the start. This did give the story a new and fresh angle which Jeanine Englert
worked with great style.
Brandon and Fiona are both well-defined characters and the way they bounce of each other is funny.

There is an incident at a Loch that I particularly enjoyed. The light moments don’t last too long before they start again. These two characters need their heads banging together! The other characters have been well developed by Jeanine Englert and really add to the story.

I truly loved the setting of the Scottish Highlands and they were brought to life by the authors descriptive writing. A place I have always wanted to visit, well I sort of, have now. If only in my head.

I found ‘The Highlanders Secret Son’ to be a light, entertaining and a tad emotional read. If you like your romance with some history I would recommend this book.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Harlequin Historical for my copy of the book.
