Tony J. Forder – The Autumn Tree

The Autumn Tree by Tony J. Forder is the latest instalment in the D.I Bliss series. Book number eight and Tony Forder is still knocking it out of the park, every, damn, time! I have read every one of these books and he just seems to be able to top his last book with every new one released!
A series in which the books can be read as standalone, but boy you are missing a fabulous, gritty and authentic series.

Tony J. Forder

This time we see DI Jimmy Bliss has a D.S due to demotion. This changes the team dynamics as Bliss isn’t giving the orders but taking them, a hard one to swallow for him. They do still work together as a fantastic team anyway. The biggest issue is the new face that arrives.

A past case rears its ugly head and Bliss is at the helm once again. He is experienced and knowledgeable about everything to do with it. It involves people trafficking and Tony Forder does not hold back with the details but it is done well within the boundaries of the case. Aside from his professional life, we see Bliss begin to contemplate and mull over his future and his place within the world. On the investigation side, he is still doing his usual going off on his own time and alone too. His self destruct button never very far away

As always when I pick up a Bliss book I feel like I am back with old friends, Tony J. Forder’s characterisation is spot on, yet again.

A book that delves deep into the darkness and evils that are committed but as always Tony J. Forder has skillfully blended humour throughout to give a delicate balance to this exceptional chapter in Bliss’s life and career. The only problem with finishing a Bliss book….I have to wait for the next!!

Thanks to Tony J. Forder for the copy of the book.
