‘Raven Fire’ by Emma Miles is a fantasy series of which this is the fourth and final book in the Fire Walker saga. I have not read any of the others to this series and I really missed out on that. I did enjoy the book but felt that if I had read them in order the full story would be breathtaking.

Set fourteen years after the third book this book returns to Eldan. The four lands are living in peace after the delegation from Geladan failed in their mission to murder Kesta and Jorrun’s children. We see rumours of witchcraft which is forbidden in the land and there is a prophecy that could spell the end of Geladan’s Goddess Jedhra and she doesn’t forget easily.

The story is split into two narratives: The Fulmer Islands, we see them all preparing for the biggest battle they have ever seen. Eldan, where Kesta and Jorrun’s children, Arridia and Josun, help the king’s children to uncover signs of witchcraft.
Even though I read the final instalment and not the rest of the series I was whisked away to Eldan with the new generation and the action with a hidden witch and golem attacks. I was surprised that I got as deep into the story and appreciate how the author has so skilfully moved the story from one of the narratives to the other. There was no gaps or jarring of the story at any of the points where we switched. This did help in keeping me interested in the story.

I need to start from the beginning to fully appreciate the world that Emma Miles has created along with the characters that I felt I could have known properly if I had read every single book.
Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Emma Miles for the copy of the book.
