Maria Frankland – Hit And Run

‘Hit and Run’ by Maria Frankland is an engrossingly clever thriller. I have read and reviewed a few of Maria’s other titles and always enjoy her writing. She always finds a way to make what seems a normal family, one which sees its fair amount of chaos and disruption.

Maria Frankland

In this book, we are introduced to Fiona, a mother and wife and also a recovering alcoholic. Who is herself the product of parents who spent all their time warring with each other. She finds out her husband, Rob as been killed in a hit and run and from there the train goes off the rails in her life. A handy prime suspect number one for the police Fiona is aware her husband had plenty of secrets and knows that one of them caused his death…it’s just a matter of time. While the investigation goes on Fiona finds herself under so much pressure to keep her sanity for the sake of her son that she is on the edge of going down the same old road and just having a drink, or three.

I liked Fiona she is a fighter and so determined to discover what Rob’s secrets were. This has the power to keep her going. Along with her loyalty and love for her family, I felt for her and could really empathise with her need for a drink. She is a great character with her strengths and flaws on display.

Maria has again written another book that I couldn’t put down I have this with every book I have read from her, no complaints though! She is one author who writes about ‘ordinary’ lives that get twisted by something and we always get to see the fallout and disruption.

I can say with certainty that if I see a Maria Frankland book I can buy it and be confident that it will be something a bit different and intriguing.

Thanks to Random Things Tours and Maria Frankland for the copy of the book.
