Georgia Hill – Janey Trelawney’s Year of Surprising Triumphs

‘Janey Trelawney’s Year of Surprising Triumphs’ by Georgia Hill is a story in which we see Janey’s life becoming more disaster movie than romcom when she gains a new boss at Cheney House who decides Janey doesn’t have enough to do already! Add to this scenario Janey trying to sort her love life out.. . No, it doesn’t seem to go be going too fast.

I thoroughly loved spending time with Janey a woman after my own heart. No cares for her clothes and more bothered about sorting out the problems with her job while still sort of attempting to navigate her love life. I found Janey to make a really good change as a lead character, she is as quirky as they come and I loved her for it! I could relate to this woman in so many ways; felt like we could almost be sisters. She is such a dab hand in the garden, I could just picture her in her mudded up dungarees, planting away.

Cheney House and all in it captured my imagination and I felt like I knew everyone in it too. Janey shows her loyalty and passion for her work, it shines through as the story progresses. Janey always seems to fall for the wrong guys, especially when there is one not too far away, that is my only comment, you will have to read the book to see.

I am almost ashamed to say I haven’t read much from Georgia Hill, but I do think I shall be from now on. Such a surprising book, with colourful characters that stand out from the rest.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Georgia Hill for the copy of the book.
