‘Buried For Good’ by Alex Coombs is the third book in the Private Investigator Hanlon series. This book is set in Glasgow and a remote Scottish Island. I jumped at the chance to join this tour as I have been part of every book that Alex Coombs has written about DCI and PI Hanlon and I have enjoyed every one.

This book sees Ex-Met detective, DCI Hanlon being requested to provide famed internet yoga instructor and prominent social media influencer Camille Anderson with protection as she has been receiving death threats at her home from which she runs a company offering back-to-nature retreats to cleanse the soul on an isolated and remote Scottish island that can only be accessed by boat. The first week goes easily with nothing out of the ordinary and Hanlon thinks she’s got a nice quiet job but that may be a little premature. The second week arrives and before they know it two members of the group of yogi’s are dead. Suddenly aware they have a real killer in their midst and knowing they can only exit the island at certain times, those there feel trapped. But Camille is the biggest danger Trapped on an isolated island with no chance of safety should this lunatic decide to pick them off one at once. Can Hanlon protect those around her?

What an exciting and immersive book to add to the series. I have come to expect Alex Coombs to create twists that you don’t expect and in this story he has skilfully done this, all the while throwing red herrings into the book. I was so interested in what was coming next I couldn’t put it down! I would say to myself “two chapters then sleep”, well! That didn’t happen. The spiritual and shamanic parts of the story really gave this book a slightly different slant as well and I found it very interesting to read.
Alex Coombs has described the area so well that he created a sense of place and I felt like I could have been there. The story is told from Hanlon’s point of view mainly and it created even more of a feeling of being there. Hanlon is well known for having a wild side, it has occasionally caused problems in the past but here we see a different side to her.

Altogether a story of lies and secrets that keeps you on the edge of your seat as you flip the pages to the ending that is an explosive one. P.I Hanlon is one of my favourite characters, I have followed her career from the beginning and love to read her newest adventures. Roll on her next one I say!
Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the copy of the book.
