Jackie Elliott – Coffin Cove

‘Coffin Cove’ by Jackie Elliott is the beginning of a planned series featuring Andrea ‘Andi’ Silvers, a reporter who has just arrived in Coffin Cove, Canada with a new job as a reporter still.

Jackie Elliott

Dumped from her previous one as well as dumped by her married boyfriend. She is struggling to function and drinks her sorrows away. Her new boss, Jim is wondering about his choice of employee.

Two sea lions have been discovered shot, which is illegal and the blame is laid on a troublemaker from a time when logging was part of the town’s make-up. A dead body is found and Andi is onto it, digging up anything she can find. She begins to get herself in a better place and starts to pull her life together. Andi and her boss Jim try to solve a cold case and as they work on that it becomes apparent that there are connections that make this bigger than they think.

A fabulous new series and a new author to me. A slow burner that spends time creating the background and the characters so we have a really feel for this setting and the people. I like Andi, ok, she isn’t perfect but who is? Her heart is in the right place and she is tenacious too, reminds me of a Yorkshire Terrier.

A crime thriller that keeps you guessing till the end. Great introduction and will be waiting for some more from Jackie Elliott in the future.

Thank you to Jill Burkinshaw for my place on this tour and Joffe Books for the copy of the book.
