Stephanie Wood – Aegian Sun: The Kafenion

‘Aegian Sun: The Kafenion’ by Stephanie Wood is the eleventh standalone book in the series of Aegean Sun stories. A lovely romance read set in gorgeous Greece. The cover of this book reminds me of the cafe’s I saw while in Kos, so brought back beautiful memories and making me want to read it.

Stephanie Wood

A Greek Island and a cafe that is being transformed from a traditional coffee shop into a summertime hotspot for the tourists that flood the island. Jane has lived and worked on the island for a while and gets her friend, Helen a job at the Kafenion. Helen is hoping for romance and some fun during the summer. We see Xenon and Kyriakos are delivery men who suddenly seem to find any excuse to be at the Kafenion, especially when Helen and Jane are around. Are they both after the same girl? Georgina stumbles upon the Kafenion while searching for information about her mums past, does Pericles have all the answers or is he going to mix things up even more? We are privy to how the regulars on a holiday isle manage their ways through romance and working relationships over a summer season.

This is a sun-soaked light-hearted read that oh, so easily sent me back 10 years to my trip to Kos. A book that shows us what happens after the tourists have gone back home and it is no longer the busy town it appears during summer months. The characters each have their own backstories and we are along for their particular ride. As they all meet up and make friends it gave me a chuckle or two when we see what happens to these colourful characters.

I felt like it was a blast from the past reading this story, and had no trouble keeping up either with it being the eleventh book. I may have to fit in the first ten, just to gain the sense of the history that there is throughout.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Stephanie Wood for my copy of the book.
