‘Pluto’s in Uranus!’ by Patrick Haylock is one of those books, just read the synopsis and if it has you finding yourself having a bit of a giggle, definitely read it. I found it hilarious and quite a unique book immediately and managed to finish it on the same day I started it.
We meet Dave, who has an obsession with reading his daily horoscope, which he reads every single morning. This time his horoscope tells him that a rare conjunction between Pluto and Uranus will give him good fortune and unexpected opportunities are about to come his way. As he follows the horoscopes advice he finds himself with new friends but some enemies too.
Dave is a cracking character, so real and I felt like he needing protecting…if only from himself! He really finds situations to get into so easily, some are funny but others can be quite serious. The fact he truly swears by his horoscope reading for even big decisions worried me along with amusing me too.
Patrick Haylock has created so many fun characters in this story and tops it off with Dave’s parents, I just chuckled my way through this book. Dave really managed to give me some real belly laughs especially with his friendship with Greg.
It’s such a light-hearted and hilarious book that it took me no time to reach the end and then I needed more… Patrick, do we have another Dave book on the horizon? I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
