Des Burkinshaw – Miniskirts Are Murder

‘Miniskirts Are Murder’ by Des Burkinshaw is the second book in a series featuring Porter and The Gliss and Porters friends too! I have not read the first book but had no problems keeping up with the story of Miniskirts Are Murder.

Des Burkinshaw

Porter Nolan is a solicitor who has turned detective. He has discovered he can sense the dead if they had any emotional or physical pain. To aid him he is the lucky one who also has a sarcastic spirit Guide The Gliss! This time they are on the trail of a young actress who went missing in Soho, London in the swinging sixties. They are still recovering from their previous adventure in the battlefields of WW1, the gang are confronted by a transatlantic conspiracy.

I picked this up and began reading, not knowing quite what to expect, but soon found myself captivated by this book that is a delightful blend of different genres. Des Burkinshaw has brought a story that has humour, plenty of it and the supernatural parts mean it is very quirky and interesting.

I enjoyed Porter and The Gliss they make such a great team and I felt a part of this partnership, almost like settling down with mates. I loved the banter, that made this book for me, nothing like good banter. These characters are not run of the mill and they just add to the quirkiness of this book. I enjoyed it that much that I intend to read the first book too, that’s for sure.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Des Burkinshaw for the copy of the book.
