‘The Sandman’ by Anna Legat is the fourth book to feature DI Gillian Marsh and the second book I have actually read from this series. I have previously read the fifth book so I am working backwards it seems! Although, for me, this is no problem, I enjoy Anna Legats writing style and love Gillian so it turns into a win/win situation. Obviously, these books are easily read as standalone or I would be mightily confused now.

In this book, we are introduced to several seemingly unconnected characters and we are drip-fed information about each and every one of them. In turn that causes the knock-on effect of becoming attached, slowly but surely through this tense, dramatic and emotional plotted book.

The author has again skillfully weaved her magic and we see the characters each play their own part in this journey to what we witness. An absolutely horrific and devastating ending for these characters results in DI Gillian Marsh having to solve an atrocity no one ever expects.
Even though this story is rather a bleak one Gillian Marsh’s slightly acidic humour is as ever-present. I think the personality of Gillian makes this series for me. This book is a tense and very unpredictable twisty tale that hooks you immediately.

Thanks to Damp Pebbles Blog Tours and Anna Legat for the copy of this great book.

Thanks for being part of the blog tour xx

Many many thanks for this wonderful review, Sharon! I am so pleased you like Gillian. She is who she is and not easy to write. She often gets out of hand.
