‘The Death of Honor’ by Lyra Thorsson is a science fiction story set mostly in space.

We meet Rebecca and all she wants in life is to sail through space in her ship—is that too much to ask? The moment she lays eyes on her old military mate Jonathan, Rebecca knew there was no more running away. With her best friend, sometimes with benefits, Nik, she decides to return home to the Nreff Nation, one of the four government powers of the systems, to serve on one last mission.
However, the problem with returning is that they are all wanted for treason. Treason that they didn’t commit. They were framed by their old admiral, Sebastien Wilde but succeeding with this mission will get them off the hook once and for all. The only issue is that Rebecca may have been closer to Sebastien than anyone knows… and the evidence needed to charge him will also place Rebecca in the frame with him. Will Rebecca help them to succeed or will she run in the other direction as fast as she can?
The story is told in alternating perspectives between Nik and Rebecca and I always enjoy an alternate POV as I seem to be able to get more into the characters that way and understand them easier. I enjoy the depth they bring to the story myself. I thought the characters were well rounded and fleshed out and Sebastien well, what a horrible, disgusting character he was. There are trigger warnings in the synopsis which are all mainly connected to this lovely specimen!

The world-building could be improved upon if I am honest. At times you aren’t too certain whether you are in space or on Earth and then the use of different languages doesn’t help with sense of place. But saying that It didn’t spoil the enjoyment of the story as such.
As the story unfolds and we get further into the book it begins to become darker, more intense and definitely more gripping and the pace starts to speed up too.

Quite a different book than I am used to but an entertaining and interesting one for me.
Thanks to Heather Fitt at Overview Media for my place on the tour today and the author for the book.
