‘The Patriot’ by Nick Thacker is the second book in the Jake Parker Series. It is a book that you can read without first reading ‘The Containment’, the first book, but I can say that once you have read this one you will want to go back to the first, they are THAT good.
An action-packed thriller that picks up shortly after book one ends.
This time Jake is recruited for a job in Puerto Rico which, as always, is not one to shout from the rooftops. While on this mission he realises that revenge for his wife’s death may be within reach and now, for Jake, it has turned personal. He starts to put his plan into action but then at the same time he finds out that there is a larger agenda going on. One that threatens American citizens and Jake knows he needs to take this down, but also realises that he will be unable to exact his revenge. Will he be able to walk away from his main mission in life to save innocents?
Well, another Jake Parker novel makes for another tense and explosive read for me! Jake is a great main protagonist and he is so real, with his need for revenge and his loyalty to his country tearing him apart we see him going through the mill again. I was delighted when I saw this book being published and knew I needed to be on the tour again.
Plenty of mystery, action, twists and breath-stopping moments made for an edge of my seat read that I couldn’t put down! If I didn’t have my kindle at hand I was on my kindle app on my phone, just so I could know what would happen next. Great follow up to ‘The Containment’. Can’t wait for the third book now.
