‘The Lies of Our Fathers’ by Jonathan Mark is the second book in The Barnabas Trilogy. I am lucky enough to have read the first and I really think the books come into their own when read in chronological order.
I was drawn to take part in this tour because the cover was so eyecatching, then the synopsis totally had me! This is one of those books that immerses you. Everything is just fitting to the story, cover, title, the lot.

This is told over a dual period, the first one takes us right back to Antioch during the Crusades in 1098 and then we are right back to Iran in 2005, where the main storyline is set.
Richard Helford, an MI6 agent is working alone and off the grid as he searches for his father David, so no agency back up. As he looks for his father, the truth about an ancient scroll leads into something more unexpected. The story takes us around several countries in a race to put pieces of an ancient puzzle together.
A story of ancient artefacts that has several religious factions either, wanting it to make sure no one else ever discovers it, or to use for their own means. Richard finds he has all these different groups to contend with if he wants to solve the puzzle.

Action-packed from beginning to end, with religion, politics and government agencies too. A conspiracy story full of intrigue, mystery and lies too. This book ticked all the boxes for me, I liked that I never knew who to trust and couldn’t rest on my laurels as they say, while reading this. I was anticipating anything to happen at any point, this had me flipping the pages while wanting to make the book last as long as possible. My heart was in my mouth at certain times, the action non-stop. A great read for those who enjoy, thrillers, action and conspiracy theory books. What one may call an absolute belter of an all-rounder!

Thank you to Jonathan Marks and Damp Pebbles Blog Tours for my copy of this fabulous story for me to write my unbiased and honest review.
