‘Frank Penny And The Last Black Stag’ by Jeremy Elson is a Young Adult/ fantasy adventure story. It is the third book in the series to feature Frank Penny which is possible to be read as a standalone but, I now want to read the others at some point, yes it is that good a story!

A group of teens, Frank, Cas, Gabby and Anya have a quest to find the next two guardians of the Simbrian and have to also keep them safe. They find themselves needing to travel through Kzarlac, an enemy of Byeland. If they are found they face death or worse for themselves and anyone who helps them in their quest. Of all the teens Frank is the one who has the gut instincts as to what are the right decisions and this aids his growth throughout this current adventure. There is an intriguing part of the story that I really am curious to see how it fully plays out. We see Frank with a sparkle in his eye for a particular female and this has every possibility of going anyway, good or bad. As I said…intriguing!

I think Jeremy Elson has created a story that can capture the imaginations of all age ranges, teens to adults. A story that becomes a little more intricate as it unfolds and keeps you guessing along with the teens. If you enjoy your stories full of danger, secrets and betrayal this is for you. A great fast-paced read that transports you away from your daily life.
Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources and Jeremy Elson for my copy of this book.
