Michael Jenkins – The Failsafe Query

‘The Failsafe Query’ by Michael Jenkins, is not only his debut novel but also the first in a trilogy of spy thrillers! I was overjoyed when I found out there were more to look forward too.

Michael Jenkins

Sean Richardson is a disgraced former intelligence officer, who is rescued from an Afghanistan prison with one reason in mind. He has experience and a wide knowledge of the Middle East and the mountains of Central Asia. With all this, he is given the mission of trying to locate an intelligence officer that has gone Off-Piste as they say. The information that the officer has means he could be Britain’s biggest whistle-blower, so Sean is put on the job of finding him.

What follows is an exhilarating trip around Europe and Central Asia with Sean and his team.

What I really enjoyed about this first book was the expertly crafted character of Sean. I liked the fact that he is a flawed man, it makes him all the more believable and a little bit complex. An expert at what he does but no saint, it gave the story the edge too. The other characters are well developed too and we did gain some back story in this first book. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone a little bit more in the next book.

In short, an action-packed, really fast-paced, no holds barred spy thriller with everything you need, the twists and espionage too. I am eager to see what Sean gets up to next.

Thank you too Damp Pebbles Blog Tours and Michael Jenkins for my copy of the book to give you my thoughts today.
