Ellie Grey – Warwick’s Mermaid

‘Warwick’s Mermaid’ by Ellie Grey is a story of Chloe, a young woman who has moved to Whitby in Yorkshire.

Ellie Grey

She has escaped an abusive relationship and has found her fairytale cottage for a new life. Here she has found the perfect life with her dog and making jewellery.

Enter her new neighbour Luke. Chloe is still very unsure and nervous with men and her mum doesn’t help matters, compounding Chloe’s low self-confidence with her own thoughts on the matter. Their attraction is unmissable but Luke thinks he needs a straight forward woman, with no issues. Chloe is the total opposite of what he wants and to add to matters, Luke has just taken over the company where she works as a P.A.

Ellie Grey has really treated the issue of Domestic Violence well in this lovely tale. She hasn’t just pretended to deal with it, but has gone into the seriousness of the issues it creates even after the event is done.

Even down to Chloe’s self-confidence afterwards. What I enjoyed reading was how Luke was with her over these things, helping them as a couple find a balance. I wanted to go back to Whitby by the time I finished this story, the vividness of the scenes of Whitby just transported me there.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Ellie Grey for the copy of the book to write my review today.
