C.J. Lyons – The Drowned Woman

‘The Drowned Woman’ by C.J. Lyons is the second book featuring Detective Sergeant Luka Jericho and police consultant Doctor Leah Wright. A thriller series set in the fictional town of Cambria City in Pennsylvania.

C.J. Lyons

In this instalment Luka investigates a woman’s death after she fell over the top of a 3rd floor bannister. Her husband who has dementia, is distraught and aggressive. Luka calls Leah in to calm him down. They then interview the next-door neighbour Risa, Luka feels something is off and asks Leah to delve more into Risa’s ill health. This action opens up a can of worms for Luka, as what they discover rakes up the suspected suicide of Luka’s fiancee Cherise, who drowned 17 years previously.

Another great Jericho and Wright story and with no less action than the first. In this we get to see a little bit more of Jericho’s background and for Leah it is a month since the trauma of losing her husband she has left the ER and is now heading up the Crisis Intervention Centre which is attached to the hospital. Will they be able to solve the mystery of the woman’s death, and will Jericho be able to face his demons in the form of his fiancee’s death?

I really enjoy this series, the two main characters are so well developed that the story is one that immerses you for the time you are reading it. I couldn’t put it down, I wanted to know how it would work out! I can’t wait for number 3 to come now!

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy of the book for me to write my review today.
