‘Tested By Fire’ by David Costa is an action-packed thriller that pulls you in from the very first page. The level of detail that David Costa has put into Costello right from the start makes him a very real character and I, for one, really took to him. This worked really well for me, making the opening as intriguing as possible made me want to know already what would happen and how would it happen, and even why?

To further increase the mystery and intrigue was around every corner (or over every page), every person we met in this book was not a straight forward one at all. This added so much to the book and had me on the edge of my seat. The fact that David Costa does not tell everything and leaves our imagination to do the thinking, can lead you to some places I tell you. Who is good and who is not is a question I kept asking myself throughout, as I ploughed through this book like there was no tomorrow! A good example for you is that Costello is connected to a planned terrorist attack! Working these things out almost frazzled my brain, but in a good way.
There are a plethora of characters that all have convincing backstories, or their backstories are hinted at that have the possibilities of being expanded upon and explored in another book. I would love to read another story that involves Costello. If it had half the excitement, tension and sense of danger in it that this has I would be happy still!

David Costa’s experience certainly shines through like a beacon in this story, it certainly adds to the authenticity of the book. A really, really excellent read and highly recommended from me if you enjoy an adrenaline-pumping story!
With thanks to Damp Pebbles Blog tours and David Costa for the copy of the book to write my review today.
