Ellery Kane – Watch Her Vanish

‘Watch Her Vanish’ by Ellery Kane is the beginning of a shiny brand new series, which features Doctor Olivia Rockwell, a criminal Psychologist and Detective Will Decker and it is set in Fog Harbour, California.

To care for her younger sister, Olivia has had to return to Fog Harbour and she is in charge of the MHU (Mental Health Unit) at Cresent Bay State Prison. Detective Will Decker has moved from San Francisco P.D to hopefully sort his career and get back on track. They are both keeping secrets close to their chest. Olivia is truly horrified when a workmate of hers is found garrotted and with her clothing messed with, Olivia realises the M.O is from a patient of hers, Drake Devere and he is locked up, this creates more confusion for her. Will is the one who got Devere behind bars, so has his personal history with this man. One of the most dangerous prisoners they have in Olivia’s Unit. He murdered five women and is in the best place for everybody’s safety.

Then a kitchen supervisor, Laura Ricci is found murdered and again, all evidence points towards Devere but how is it possible when the man is locked up in a max security prison?
Well! What a story! This is one of those books that you can’t put down, the author has perfectly created a killer thriller you could say. I found this book to be a high tension read, with adrenaline coursing throughout.

The very fact that this is an investigation that is almost a race against the clock to stop the murders makes it a fantastic read, every lead needs to be hunted down and microscopically checked so they can, without a doubt, get the right person.
The characters are all interesting and all committed to get the culprit bang to rights. A really promising start to a new series, can’t wait to see where it takes Olivia and Will, I can see something glimmering on the horizon for them.

A brilliantly fast-paced, action-packed story that is full to the brim with intrigue and suspense. The twists are great too, not predictable and they keep you on your toes throughout. I was dying to reach the end and find out if the team would catch their man or woman of course! A book that hooked me from the first chapter and managed to keep me there till the end.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy of the book for my review today.
