‘The Wicked Oath’ by Michael L. Lewis is a young adult /thriller crossover. The second book to be set within the walls of Blackleigh boarding school. A prestigious school in the North of England which, after reading both these books make me rather glad I am poor!

Jonathon Simon is in the second year of Blackleigh and discovers two boys that are as evil as they come are the prefects for his house, added to that they get a new headmaster and Jonathon finds himself and his friends are all in the firing line for abuse. My heart went out to these boys, attempting to traverse school days with avoiding the abuse as much as possible.
I have always enjoyed boarding school stories and The Wicked Oath has all the mystery, people you can really get behind and the drama. I do feel this book will appeal to people of more than Young Adult age. It has plenty of colourful characters to get your teeth into, either the nasty bullies, teacher or pupil or the poor lads that find themselves at the mercy of them. It isn’t a soft read and the author has created characters that are skillfully created, each with their own personality, be it good or bad.

The fact that the author has had links to the education system is pretty clear as well, I found both books to be as good as one another and look forward to reading more of his work.
Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources and Michael L Lewis for my book to write this review today.
