‘The Unquiet Spirit’ by Penny Hampson is a story that has suspense, mystery, the paranormal and also some romance all woven intricately together to create an atmospheric and at times haunting read. The first book in the Shades, Shadows, and Spectres series.

Kate inherits a house from her Godmother down in Cornwall. She travels immediately to Cornwall, happy to have a fresh start. She moves into her home but soon begins to think that, either she is becoming
mentally unstable or it is haunted. As time goes on Kate seems to have nothing but trouble, she has multiple attempted break-ins among other mental stresses.
Tom lives next door and he is cranky, to say the least, but time goes on and we see the friendship develop between them even though they initially did not get on. We see the nicer side of him as he relaxes with Kate, he even shows an almost heroic side to himself.
I was definitely engrossed with the historical part of the story. As Kate was finding out the history of the house I was in my element and the creepiness of the happenings in the house did put me on the edge of freaking out! Even though I knew it was a story that’s how good the writing was!

A big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources and Penny Hampson for the book and allowing me to be a part of this haunting books blog tour.

Thank you for the lovely review, Sharon!
