Joan Livingston – Killing The Story

‘Killing The Story’ by Joan Livingston is a book by a new author for me, and I am glad I have discovered her. This book is the fourth in the Isabel Long Mystery Series, but I picked up this one and had no problems to get into the book. Joan has given plenty of the back story for it to easily be read as a standalone.

Joan Livingston

Isabel is a former journalist who specialises in solving cold cases in North Massachusetts where she lives. We also meet her mother Maria, who, apart from being a sweet lovely woman, helps Isabel in her cases and we see a lot of these women. Isabel’s previously Journalist job does mean she has all the qualities needed to make her private investigating role successful. She is as inquisitive, determined and tough as she needs to be for the role. I really enjoyed getting to know these two women and before long felt like I knew them and was spurring them on. They are a great pairing both being strong women helps to get results.

This story focuses on a former editor of a small-town newspaper and they have to use all their combined skills to discover if there is even a case to be investigated. Such an addictive story kept me turning the pages to see what these characters did next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will read more of Joan’s work as my interest is definitely peaked.

Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources and the publisher for the book to discover this fabulous writer today.
