‘This Side Of Death’ by Andrew Barratt is the sixth book in the C.S.I Eddie Collins series.
For those of you not already familiar with Eddie, let me tell you: If you like your characters deep, arrogant, sarcastic and easily annoyed. And his use of the English language, which is colourful, to say the least. Then this is the man for you. Needless to say, he calls a spade a spade, even if it offends someone. He prefers to work on his own, too many people are too easily offended these days you see, and he is the best at his job, simple.
A mentally ill patient, Alex Sheridan has escaped from Juniper Hill High-Security Hospital, aided by one of the guards. This is one person that needs to be caught before she finds who she is looking for, Eddie. His past and present collide in this explosive instalment. Eddie is as unbalanced as he could be, emotionally. Will he be able to keep his sanity or his anger controlled?
Out of all Eddie’s ‘adventures’, this is the most brilliant, explosive and tense one yet. The suspense is almost unbearable, my heart was in my mouth at times reading this one. As always with Andrew Barratt, we are never bored and it may get a little grisly at times but we all come running for the next instalment! For sure!
