‘Deadly Revenge’ by Leigh Russell is the fourteenth outing for Geraldine Steel. I have read some of the previous books in the series but not every single one as yet! This can be read without diving into the full series easily, but as I know myself you will want to read every single one.

Geraldine has had ups and downs over the full series and has been demoted due to her actions in a previous book. She has now found love with a man she thought was an impossible dream and they are together an awful lot. So, things are looking up, maybe??
A mother wakes up one morning to find her baby missing. To make matters worse her violent husband has gone on a stag do and can’t be found or contacted at all. There has been no break-in, no strangers around. The police think everything points to Jason, her husband. Geraldine’s gut is telling her different, the mother, Jessica, has parents who play the blame game with her. Things such as she shouldn’t have married Jason, she gets hysterical and is unable to cope with life. Jessica’s dad is a local councillor and he is causing dissent with local budget cuts and obviously is not well-liked. Geraldine feels there is something not being said and they don’t really get anywhere in finding either Jason or the baby. At the same time, a body is found and there are other odd things happening, so, from bad to worse really. The ending, well, you can read it and see, but you won’t see it coming, I didn’t. It’s excellent!

The amount of action in this one book had me whirling at one point, A missing baby, a dead body, investigations racing ahead to find the clues they needed. I enjoyed the inclusion of a very important subject of today, domestic violence. The impact and reverberations this has throughout families. I felt that Jessica’s parents where pretty good examples of how people judge and make domestic violence victims feel like they are guilty when they should be being supported.
Thanks to Random Things Tours and Leigh Russell for the book so I could take part today.
