Broken Silence by Liz Mistry is the second book in the Nikki Parekh series. These fantastically gripping police procedurals will have you totally immersed in Nikki’s world from beginning to end. A woman who is kick ass all the way and not without her flaws but that just endears her to me. I picked up this book knowing Liz weaves a fantastic story but soon realised she has outshone herself, yet again!
A story that tackles the most thought-provoking issues in society today, the act of human trafficking and is at times a quite harrowing and intricate read but oh so worth it! I love the fact these books are set in Bradford as well. Although not my hometown it is close enough for me to recognise settings and at least feel an affinity with the characters too.
I really love gritty and quite grim stories and this hits all the points. In fact, this is a story that hits the ground running and never lets up! A heart-pounding read and highly recommended for any gritty, high action police procedural readers out there.
