Withstanding The Enemy is a dark romantic suspense thriller that once you start is really hard to put down in order to do your mundane daily stuff!

Emma is an orphan whose mum died when she was 14 and she was in the care system till she was 16. She runs away from her current foster home to find herself entangled with Rick Stevens, not your average guy. The violence comes off him in waves!
Rick is a wealthy club owner who dabbles in every illegal thing going, including hiring young girls. He owns everything of luxury too including a 20 floor New York skyscraper and also counts Emma as his possession and everyone knows it! Chance is his Head Security guard and his attraction to Emma is not only foolish but dangerous, as his life could be in the balance if he acted upon it. He is very aware she is Rick’s and still can’t help his feelings.

Will he be able to unfurl Emma from Rick or is he destined to die doing it??
Chance is a fantastic character, he has so many sides to him it’s impossible to not like him! He is also good looking that always helps! He has his own secrets to keep as well, which we discover as we go along. I really.
Emma is an innocent, she really doesn’t realise what she is walking into but she is such a likeable character. I really wanted Emma to have a happy ending after everything she has suffered.
Withstanding The Enemy is a gripping story that holds you from the start and with so much tension, danger and suspense all the way through.
There may be triggers for some within the storyline with scenes of Domestic violence and sexual scenes, but these are not gratuitous and only set the scenes needed.
I found the characters well developed, and complex and as you expect when there is at least one brutal man, not all pleasant. A thrilling read for me and I am hoping we have another book with Emma!

Thank you to Rachels Random Resources for having me on this blog tour I thoroughly enjoyed it!
